Coronavirus update

This unprecedented situation is affecting us all and we are in regular contact with those who are booked to travel with us this summer.

We are offering every client the opportunity to delay their trip up until the end of 2022 and not loose any deposits or final balances. We are currently sending out notices to those arriving in April and May and will be assessing the position for June and July travellers in a few weeks.

For those travelling later in the year we are not making any knee-jerk decisions for them . We propose to keep their plans as they are until we know the facts around any travel restrictions etc at that time. There is plenty of time to deal with the August – October arrivals in due course.

In Scotland we are getting on with life despite the restrictions that are in place. Our staff are manning the office on a rota basis to avoid too many people being together at the same time. The courses are all open, some clubhouses have some restrictions in their food and bar service, but everyone is making an effort to stay clean. It would appear that Scotland is one of the least affected areas of the world, but we are not being complacent.

There is likely to be some new availability on The Old Course later this summer should some clients rebook for 2021 or 2022. If you are interested in joining our late availability mailing list, see our St Andrews page on this web site.

With so many new and repeat clients coming here this year, we hope you all stay safe, look forward to your trip, and please follow the advice given by the health experts.

ChrIstmas and New Year Opening Hours

Our offices in Dunfermline Scotland will be closed from 2pm on Monday 23 December 2019 until 9am on Friday 3 January 2020.

We would like to thank all our clients this year for another record breaking year, and look forward to seeing some of you again next year.

From all our staff here in Scotland, we would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a safe, healthy and prosperous 2020.

Old Course availability 2020

With 2020 just a few weeks away, most of our guaranteed times are now sold. However do we have space for 8 players on 29 April. We are offering a 5 night package staying at 5 star Fairmont St Andrews with 5 rounds of golf including The Old Course, for just….

£2325 per person,

based on 2 people sharing.

This includes your own Mercedes 8 seater minivan, breakfast each day and meet and greet service on arrival…. and lots more.

Contact us today if you have some friends who wish to make this trip . We will sell it as 2 packages for 4 players or 1 package for 8 players.

Book today!

If you wish to come on other dates next summer, the ballot process is open as usual and many of our golfers play the course using this process. The ballot results are not known until 2 days before play so we will plan your trip to St Andrews to include courses we can swap over should your tee time conflict with a time booked at a different course.

The Open 2021

As you may have have read on our web site recently, we were expecting to enter into contract with The R&A to obtain tickets to the 2021 Open at St Andrews. Due to the onerous conditions the R&A were imposing on us, we have decided not to sign that contract, but to co-operate with them and assist clients to buy their tickets direct when they go on sale in July 2020 via the R&A ticket office at The One Club.

This is the most efficient and cost effective option for us and our clients, and we look forward to creating many tours for you all to include attending the event in your golf tour or corporate event.

We have been supplying packages that include attending The Open since we started in business over 21 years ago, and we know St Andrews will again be a big draw for the avid golfer. Book your trip now to get the best accommodations and golf tee times.

Our new web pages will be uploaded shortly with more information.

See you there!

2019 – make it the year you come to Scotland

Although this,  our golf tours web site,  has lots of ideas about your next golf trip, we do more than just arrange amazing golf trips. Many couples, families and groups of friends get together and tour round the country, enjoying some golf during their travels. So if you wanted to explore the country, enjoy the amazing scenery, the excellent country house hotels,  the resorts, the castles , the whisky and gin distilleries, and the outstanding restaurants, talk to us and we will design a route for you .  If you want to include a few games of golf or other sports like falconry, hill-walking, fishing, river rafting,  quad bikes, off road driving, mountain biking, etc during your vacation just let us know when making your enquiry.

We do work with a local golf club hire company who will supply good quality rental clubs – frequently this year’s models from the major brands. We can have them delivered to your first hotel and collected from your last hotel. That saves you from packing all that stuff and paying the airlines to bring it from home. Bring your shoes, glove, and your favorite hat,  and we can supply the rest.

Remember you have the choice of a self drive tour or we can supply a driver with a car/van/coach depending on the size of your group.

We can also obtain tickets to many of the major festivals, theatres, shows, and pop/rock concerts if you wish to include these experiences in your trip.

I hope we can make your 2019 trip to Scotland, London or Ireland a special experience you all.

The Old Course Players 2018

This year to celebrate our 20th anniversary, we have been asking all the players whom we obtained guaranteed times for to sign our 18th pin flag. It is filling up nicely and I am hoping the final 16 players who will play it later this season will find a space for their signature!

If you were one of the players who signed it earlier in the season you will see a difference!

Thanks to all players for participating in this initiative.flag 24Aug18

Czabe’s coming to Scotland

If you are based in USA and listen to Yahoo Sports Radio, you will be familiar with the radio show hosted by Steve Czaban. He has been one of USA’s top sports broadcasters for many years. Czabe has been a client of Scotland Tours since 2012 and this year to celebrate his 50th birthday he is bringing 11 of his golfing buddies on a pilgrimage to the home of golf.

Steve interviewed Ronnie Pook of Scotland Golf Tours live for 20 minutes recently to talk about the trip, the courses the history and the passion he has for the game.

Steve started his planning his trip with us almost 2 years ago and we successfully reserved all the major courses on his bucket list.  Steve is making another video of his trip and this will be posted online in a few weeks. If it is anything like his last video, it will be fun to watch. To see the video of his 2015 trip, click here.

Tickets to The Open

As you may have read elsewhere on the sports news pages, The R&A have decided for the first time in 148 years, to introduce a ticket limit per day at Royal Portrush in 2019. Demand for the event has been unprecedented and it is already virtually sold out for all championship days. If you were thinking about going and just turning up on the day to pay at the gate, the way thousands of golf fans have done in the past, think again!  There will be no “pay at the gate” facility!

The R&A have upset a lot of the travel trade, their sponsors and many golfers, by introducing this policy and we are concerned that the opportunity for many loyal golf fans to attend this event has been taken away. We believe this will encourage ticket touts to emerge from  the black market and charge premium prices for the tickets – let the buyer beware!

With the 2020 event being held in Royal St Georges, east of London England, and the 2021 in St Andrews it will be interesting to see if they continue with this unpopular practise. Let’s hope common sense prevails and all are made welcome again. Watch this space folks!
